Hello friends,
Wondering about the title of my blog post? That's my summer flying by! I just don't know where the days go, but here we are at the end of June already and I feel like summer is passing me by!
So what's new at the farmhouse? I have been very busy with the sewalong project hosted by Fat Quarter Shop, and while it is not quite done, I will certainly be able to put the finishing touches on it fairly quickly:
This is a free pattern called Layer Cake Spools and can be found by clicking here. I used an unusual color and fabric palette for me, but I really like how it ended up looking!
The instructions for this quilt are not hard, and you just need 2 layer cakes or cut your own 10" squares. I would highly recommend buying the Layer Cakes because that is a time-saver! These are what I used:
The grey is called Dry Brush Slate and can be found by clicking here( click). The coffee print is called Coffee Chalk and can be found here ( click). Look at all the cute prints inside that Coffee Chalk package: I am not a coffee drinker, but this will make a perfect quilt for our oldest son, who loves his coffee ;).In the evenings I continue with my big stitch quilting on this quilt:
The house and tree blocks were a panel I picked up at my local re-use store, and the other blocks I added by making a sort-of log cabin block with scraps from my stash. It is very bright but it brings me joy to work on it and I'm going to love having this on a wall somewhere!
I am stitching this with a BIG running stitch, using my favorite thread ( click)!
