WINTERBERRIES sewalong: part 1 ( January 14th, 2021) ( please click on title to view in browser)

 Hello sewalongers!

Sorry if you have been waiting for a while for your first set of instructions....I was trying to work ahead and make sure that all the fabric requirements were correct per my quilt design program, but life gets in the way, as I'm sure most of you know, and I haven't gotten as far ahead on this project as I would have liked.

But I didn't want you to wait any longer so I'm just going to provide what I can now and then the rest will come at a later date...deal?

So, to remind you, this is the quilt we will be making:

I am calling it WINTERBERRIES and as you can see I used blues, greens, whites, off-whites, and some lilacs for this version. ( You can check out last week's post right here to see the fabrics I picked for my version).

If you are not quite sure yet which color way you want to go, I am providing this blank copy of the pattern so that you can print it off and color it in and see what color scheme you prefer:

Now for some of the details of the blocks:
1}We will be making 9 Churn Dash blocks that will finish at 9" ( 9.5" unfinished), plus 4~ 9" appliqued blocks (9.5" unfinished).

2}For each appliqué block you will need a 9.5"  background square, plus some green and blue scraps, and fusible web. ( You can use what you prefer, I used Heat 'n Bond Lite for this project).

3}For your pieced blocks you can use Fat Quarters. Each block will require one light strip cut at 3 7/8", and one dark strip cut at 3 7/8". There will be a little bit of waste from these, but not too bad.

4}You are also going to need light fabric for the setting squares but I want to check the math on those before I give you the information because I am pretty sure that my quilt design program is wrong on those measurements! I do know that you are going to need a fabric strip at least 14 inches wide to make the setting triangles so you can make sure you have that available.

Alright, I hope that gives you a little bit of a start. I am in the midst of making my blocks and will share construction of the blocks in the next Winterberries post so keep an eye out for that.

Don't forget that these sewalong posts are in addition to my regular posts, so don't be confused if you don't see any instructions in my regular posts. The ones for the sewalong will always be titled WINTERBERRIES and then a part number.

Until next time~happy creating!
Monique
