A tisket, a tasket...

( my blog posts sometimes contain affiliate links. When you purchase through one of my links you don't pay one extra penny, but you do support Farmhouse Quilts in a very small way~ Thank you for that!)

 Hello,

A short and sweet ( I think!) blog post this week, all about my latest quilt. If you are part of my FB group ( we are happy to welcome more members, just click here!)  or follow me on Instagram ( click here),you have already gotten some glimpses of this so I do apologize if these images look familiar ;).

I recently received the cutest Accuquilt die and just HAD to make a quilt with it...as in IMMEDIATELY! I had purchased a FQ bundle of Fig Tree fabrics from one of my favorite online sellers, Cottage Couture Fabrics, and thought they would be perfect for my newest quilt!

So I made some star blocks....

And then used my basket die to make some appliqued blocks...

Didn't they turn out oh so cute?  Just to be clear, the basket is one die and then I used another die to make the flowers, hearts, and leaves ( the stems I cut freehand).
I stitched everything down with my machine and then sewed all the blocks together on point.

I found this perfect fabric for the back!

Interestingly enough it is also a FigTree design, but one from many years ago!

And then it was time for basting and quilting!

Can you see that my blocks have already been quilted? I use a Quilt As You Go method that I just love. It allows me to maneuver smaller pieces around and through my machine and then all I do is add a backing and add a few more quilting lines. You can read more about this method in this post ( click). It is a game changer!

Now that my quilt has been quilted, I'm on the search for the perfect binding! I'm leaning towards a red, but it has to be a perfect tomato-y red and I'm not sure if I have one of those in my stash....
So maybe I'll use a green...or a brown....
As I was working on finishing up this quilt, I have already been dying to start another! I've got my fabrics all picked out too! Now I just have to come up with the perfect pattern ;).

To finish up my blog post I wanted to share some photos that I took while we were driving through the countryside last weekend...

We sure do live in a pretty spot!

Next week I'll share an adorable cabinet that I found....it found a perfect spot  in our living room!

I'm off to search for binding!
Until next time~happy creating!
Monique

  2. Such a pretty quilt ! LOVE Fig Tree fabrics too ! You always have such pretty projects and photos ! I recognize that scenery - our son , daughter in law and little granddaughter live in Bellefonte/Zion area . Also - wanted to thank you for the info on Scraps and Skeins - last time we were out visiting our son and family I dropped off my mother in law’s sewing machine and a lot of other sewing supplies and fabrics . Today I’m still going through more ( my sewing books , fabric etc) to donate the next time we visit . My son is a good sport and will drop things off on his way to work 😃
