Happy Fall my quilting friends,
I don't usually write blog posts such as this anymore, but it seemed like a perfect time to return to it for 2 reasons: A sweet, longtime follower has been missing and asking for a return to these kinds of posts, AND certain billionaires are deciding who gets to see what posts/ads/random content on social media sites, whether you have signed up for it or not. Well, I am tired of it! So this post is going directly into people's email inboxes, and no one gets to interfere with that!
Fall here in central Pennsylvania has been absolutely gorgeous! We wake up to frosty mornings and then the sun slowly warms everything up throughout the day. The colors on the trees have been a bit disappointing, but we do enjoy shuffling through all the fallen leaves on our daily walks ( our pups included!)
I had fun pulling out a bunch of Autumn inspired quilts to decorate around the house!
But this one remains one of my favorites:
Those sweet little scarecrow faces get me every time, and I love the little pop of blue among the more traditional Fall colors.A few years back we even bought this original painting that hangs in our family room all year long, but looks especially perfect right now:
I do try and enjoy some working time in my quilt room every day, although it doesn't always work out. But even walking in for a few moments and looking at some of my treasures brings me joy.
I think I have eclectic taste in decorating?! Some might think it looks like a mess, but when I look I see treasures made by friends, gifted by family members, and found by me at antique shops. And yes, I do really like my quilting/crafting books! So much so that my book collection has spilled out of my quilt room into other corners of our home....
Do you know this quote by Dr. Suess? I love it!

Of course my room contains other treasures too...some to use, and some to just look at:
I like to think that all these items inspire me!
And I haven't even told you about my vintage quilts! I do like to collect those as well, but I prefer the tattered ones that look like they have been well loved.
One of those inspired me to start on this quilt top:
This one is ready to be quilted as I go, a method that I love using on bigger quilts! If you want to learn more about that method, I have written a couple of blog posts about it, so just search in the search bar for those.
As well as my vintage-inspired quilt, I have also been playing with my strip die, making diamonds and squares, and will share a video about the possibilities in my FB group next week. The star block was a ( very rudimentary) attempt to see how I could combine diamonds and HSTs:
I also played around with my Fox applique die and shared a super short tutorial on putting him together. I love using applique dies and this little guy is the cutest!
You can also have a peek at the fox quilt that I am making in that same post.
I will end with some more photos of our yard in Autumn and ( if I can make it work) a little video of a fun little skeleton runner I made last year!
This one is for you, Brenda, with love xx
Happy Fall!
Monique
Love it all! Our leaves are at peak color here in MI. And my front yard needs raking! My favorite time of the year. Thanks for all your work on the blog and fb!
